Description, View into an exposition
Museum is located in located in sensitively reconstructed historical object
at the municipality's common, which is the birthplace of Schwarzenberk's
channel's founder Josef Rosenauer.
Project of museum has been realized in
years 1999-2000 from initiative of the Municipal office Chvalšiny and it
was supported by program PHARE; museum is so important cultural event, that
European Union paid total sum of 288.970 EU for its construction.
Museum expositions contain nature and natural monuments of this protected area,
its today condition and plans for its future development as well as
its historical evolution with both cultural and natural interests till today.
The largest area is dedicated to personality and work of an author of
Schwarzenberk's channel; exhibits illustrating the life
of J. Rosenauer
are combined with documents, paintings, photographs, material exhibits and historical
objects, what gives integral figures about origin, importance and today state
of channel and its vicinity. The whole exhibition is combined with exposition
about forestry and wood industry in Šumava.
Unique technical monument, as Schvarzenberk's channel surely deserves its own museum.
Lovers of Šumava, who have already met the building of channel, have got a
unique opportunity to enlarge their information about history and function of construction and
approach to mind of its author. Where else than in Chvalšiny's museum,
can visitors see the whole model of construction, where else can they learn
more about pattens and fathom stones.
The experience can be enlarged by tour of ancient municipality
Chvalšiny and its picturesque vicinity.
