All visitors of the Český Krumlov Region are attracted by architectural monuments, natural places of interest and possibilities of holiday and sport as well as by the variety of offers of cultural programs, exhibitions, concerts, festivals and other events.
Annually, more and more visitors come to the Křemže village at the end of July to see the famous Fair "Everything for House, Garden and Hobby". Side by side with the Fair are abundant cultural events and folk entertainment.
Obviously, the town of Český Krumlov is considered to be a center of cultural activity. The visitors of other locations in the region, however, should be satisfied as well. The long-standing tradition of public plays about the life and death of Jesus Christ is recalled by the beautiful summer performance of the
Passion Plays in Hořice na Šumavě. It is held in a wonderful natural amphitheater. The Prague Agency Versum organizes already a few years the Cycle of Organ Concerts related to the wandering along the Vltava river in a program known as
Organum hydraulicum. The Show of Amateur Theatrical Groups
Theater Days in Vyšší Brod has already won its own group of followers. Apart from others, the
Amateur Theater Ensemble Hrudkováček, Vyšší Brod belongs to the organizers.
Lovers of history may visit for example Castle Rožmberk nad Vltavou, and the Monasteries in Vyšší Brod and Zlatá Koruna, or can discover and meet the poet of the Šumava mountains Adalbert Stifter in Horní Planá. Several years ago the house of his birth became a museum reminding us of this unique native. Admirers of technical monuments should set out on traces of the Schwarzenbeg Navigational Canal or visit the Museum of Horse - drawn Railway in Bujanov, where one can become informed with that unique first railroad in Europe, connecting České Budějovice with Linz.
