The settlement is part of Český Krumlov nowadays.
The first written mention of Dobrkovice is from 1347. It was one of underlinked villages of Krumlov estate. In 1617 Krumlov major Matyáš Hölderle of Schadenberg let to build mill and in 1623 he entailed it to Jezuits. In 1970 here lived 158 citizen.

Dobrkovická Cave, the oldest archaeological locality in the Český Krumlov region. It is situated close to the road to Kájov in settlement Dobrkovice near Český Krumlov. Archaeological research was performed in by teacher and amateur archaeologist Karel Brdlik in cooperation with prof. dr. Leonhard Franz and prof. A. Liebus.
This archaelogical locality in Dobrkoviká Cave (which is carst origin with crag) was accidentaly discovered in 1933 in accordance with rebuilding of nearby house because it was used as cellar and shed. During rebuilding the owner discovered large number of big and strange bones. Under bed of clay and send, within archaeological research, were discovered bones of prehistorical animals - mammoth, rhinoceros, horse, bison, deer or cave bear. In cold and rough climate of the middle paleolit the structure of flora and fauna was another then today. Discovery of fireplace and some small stone and bone tools is documenting only temporary settlement of group of hunters Homo sapiens sapiens or Homo sapiens fossilisin in between 70 000 - 50 000 years b.c. Except stone tools the settlers also used bone and ivory ones. Knowledge and using of fire is confirmed by existence of fragment of fireplace in the middle of the cave. Archaeological locality Dobrkovická Cave is closed for public. 
Not far away from village is located National Preserve Vyšenské Hills with unique calcareous and thermophilic vegetation which is typical for warm limestone areas in foothills of the Alpes.
