Český Krumlov lives again
After the flooding wave that came to Český Krumlov in last few days, the situation in the town is being stabilazed again. The river Vltava is in its banks and doesn´t seem to be harmful for the historical centre of the town anymore. The weather forecast is positive for the next few days.
Good news for everybody: Tourist´s season continues in Český Krumlov from 19.08.2002!
Historical centre (except few parts of town - for example the Street Parkan) is going to be open for the visitors since the 19.08.2002. Almost all penzions, hotels and other accommodations in all categories function without problems. Restaurants and typical czech taverns in Český Krumlov have prepared various specialities for their guests.
The actual informations about free capacities - see contact lower. There are enough places where the visitors can park and other normal services work again.
The State Castle of Český Krumlov
is open as usual. It is possible to visit the
first route of the castle,
castle barouqe theatre,
the tower
as well as the
castle garden.
The visitors are awaited also in
The International Gallerie of ceramical art
in the
Václavské cellars
also the
gallerie Doxa
on the
first courtyard
of the castle. Since Tuesday 20.08.2002 will be open all the remaining parts of the castle -
II. route,
Lapidarium
and all other galleries. We reccomend to enter the castle from Latran street through the
first castle courtyard,
it is also possible to use the specifized way from the parking-place in Jelenka numbered P1and P2.
Galleries and Museums
are ready to open or are trying hard to renew their buisness. The
district homeland Museum,
The House of Photography,
Fairy-tale House and
The Museum of Marionette
will open again on Monday 19.08.2002.
Even the expozitions of the well-known gallerie Egon Schiele Art Centrum
won´t be closed for their visitors. Since Wednesday 21.08.2002 will be possible to see the instalation of graphics of Max Ernst and retrospectival display of gipsy artist Rudolf Dzurko.
The town will live again with various cultural and social actions :
On Monday 19.08.2002 will be beneficencent performance The Middsummer Night Dream on the
revolving theatre in the
castle garden. The income will be for the sacrifice of the floods. The next performances will continue since Tuesday 20.08.2002 as before, if it´s not raining.
Since Wednesday 21.08.2002 will also go on the concerts in the
Masquerade Hall
of the castle
due to the original plan of
The International Music Festival Český Krumlov.
The culmination of the festival will be the ending beneficencent concert in front of the
Riding Hall of the castle on Saturday 24.08.2002, where you can hear the world-known works of art of M. Ravel, A. Dvořák, M. P. Mussorgský played by Czech Philharmonic.
Another festival which enrich the musical variety of the town is Jazz in the end of the summer.
Its programm was changed due to actual situation and now it is concentrated on two beneficencent concerts,
on Thursday 22.08.2002 is Jazz mass in the Church of St. Vitus played by The Orchestra of Gustav Brom and Town musical Chorus Perchta and on Friday 23.08.2002 concert of the jazz magician Láďa Kerndl and Jazz Friends in the Hotel Růže.

Český Krumlov was hurt by the floods, but everybody believes and works on repairing the town to make the town busy, cosmopolitan and friendly place again, full of experience for its inhabitants as well as for the visitors, more beautiful than before.
